Building Basics: The 90s Retake Guide

Fortnite building

Building is what separates Fortnite from every other BR. If you can't do 90s, you'll never win high-level box fights. Here's the exact technique.

The Basic 90s Sequence

StepBuildDirectionTiming
1FloorForwardStart
2RampUp-forwardImmediately after floor
3Wall (right)90-degree rightDuring ramp animation
4FloorForwardJump
5RampForwardMid-air
6Repeat----

Common Mistakes

  • Too slow: 90s should take < 2 seconds per rotation
  • Wrong crosshair placement: Look slightly upward when placing ramps
  • No jump timing: Jump RIGHT after placing the last wall

Fortnite building

Practice routine: Go to Creative Mode > BHE 1v1 map. Spend 15 minutes doing ONLY 90s. Don't shoot. Then 15 minutes of box fighting. Do this for 1 week and you'll go from zero build fights to winning 60% of your box fights. In the MENA Fortnite scene, mechanical skill is EVERYTHING -- if you out-build your opponent, you win 90% of engagements.
