Mid Lane Roaming Guide for Emerald+
AdminJuly 8, 2026366 views
Mid lane roam timers are the difference between hard-stuck Emerald and Diamond. Here's exactly when and how to roam.
Roam Timings
| Game Time | Condition | Roam To | Expected Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2:30 | Wave pushed | Scuttle fight | Secure crab + vision |
| 3:30 | Scuttle secured | Bot lane | 4v2 gank |
| 5:00 | First dragon up | Dragon pit | Objective fight |
| 7:00-8:00 | Ult available | Top or Bot | Free kill with ult |
Roam Rules
- Rule: Push then roam. Never roam with enemy minions at your tower -- you lose XP and gold
- Rule: Roam on cannon waves. Cannon minion takes longer to kill, giving you the most roam time
- Rule: If roam fails, go BACK to mid immediately. Don't wander aimlessly
Mid Lane Roam Setup
- Flash + Ignite (aggressive) or Flash + Cleanse (vs CC comps)
- Skill order: Max Q (waveclear) > W > E
- Boots: Giant Slayer's + Stasis (active item is mandatory)
- Ward: Always carry 2 control wards for river vision
SEA server difference: Roaming in SEA is more effective because players push without vision. Track the enemy jungler -- if they show top, immediately roam bot. Your window is 45 seconds. The best mid laners in SEA hit 80%+ kill participation. If you're below 60%, you're not roaming enough.
