Early Game Guide: The Perfect First 10 Turns
AdminJuly 8, 202680 views
Polytopia is all about early game momentum. Here's the perfect first 10 turns for every tribe.
First 10 Turns by Tribe
| Tribe | Turn 1-3 | Turn 4-6 | Turn 7-10 | Win Condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kickoo | Explore coast, build 2 cities | Customs Houses | Battleships | Naval dominance |
| Luxidoor | Expand quickly, workshop | Defenders + riders | Swordsmen | Economic advantage |
| Elyrion | Polytaurs, explore | Sanctuaries (dragons) | Dragon hatch | Dragon army |
| Vengir | Aggressive warrior push | Capture enemy capital | Swordsmen | Early elimination |
| Xin-xi | Mountain climbing, mining | Forge + workshop | Giants + catapults | Giant push |
The Kickoo Naval Build
Kickoo is the strongest tribe in the current meta. Here's why:
- Perk: Starts with Fishing. Every coastal city = Customs House economy
- Build Order: Fishing > Organization > Sailing > Trade
- Key unit: Battleship (upgraded from a ship on a port city)
- Timing: By turn 15, you should have 2 ports and 1 Customs House
Kickoo Optimal Tech Order
Turn 1: Fishing (gives immediate food + exploration)
Turn 3: Organization (workshops = economy)
Turn 5: Sailing (explore other islands, find opponents)
Turn 8: Trade (Customs Houses = passive income)
Turn 12: Navigation (Battleship upgrade)
Turn 15: Philosophy (if ahead) or Strategy (if pressured)
SEA player observation: Polytopia has a competitive scene in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines. The Kickoo mirror match (both players as Kickoo) is the most common high-level matchup. The winner is determined by: (1) who explores faster, (2) who builds Customs Houses first, and (3) who gets Battleships first. In a Kickoo mirror, the player who skips Defender training to rush Battleships usually wins -- naval offense beats defense on archipelago maps.
