Veteran difficulty in Modern Combat 5 campaign is no joke. Here's how to 3-star every mission.
Mission Difficulty Ranking
| Mission Name | Difficulty | Enemy Count | Boss Fight? | Recommended Class |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prologue | Easy | 30 | No | Any |
| The Rescue | Medium | 45 | No | Assault |
| Extraction | Hard | 60 | Yes (helicopter) | Heavy |
| Black Site | Very Hard | 80 | Yes (tank) | Sniper |
| The Final Stand | Extreme | 100+ | Yes (multiple) | Bounty Hunter |
Veteran Mode Tips
- Cover usage: ALWAYS use cover. Standing in the open for 3 seconds = death on Veteran
- Headshots: Every bullet should aim for the head. Body shots take 4-5 hits, headshots take 1-2
- Grenade management: Enemies throw grenades at your cover. When you hear the "tink" sound, RUN
- Weapon switching: Don't reload in combat -- switch to secondary instead (faster)
Camp Mode Settings
- Difficulty: Veteran (first playthrough)
- HUD: Advanced (3 weapon slots visible)
- Auto-aim: High assist (for campaign)
- Auto-sprint: OFF (you need to walk in stealth sections)
- Crosshair: Dynamic (changes size with accuracy)
- FOV: 75 (balanced between awareness and target size)
The boss strategy: Every boss in MC5 has a 3-phase attack pattern. Phase 1: learn the pattern (don't shoot). Phase 2: apply damage during the boss's downtime (after they finish their combo). Phase 3: use scorestreaks/ultimates for the final push. The biggest mistake players make on Veteran is trying to DPS through boss attacks instead of waiting for openings. Patience beats aggression on Veteran boss fights every time.
