Nether Update: Best Biomes for Loot

Nether biomes

The Nether has 5 distinct biomes, each with unique loot. Here's what to prioritize.

Ancient Debris Mining Route

The most efficient method for finding Ancient Debris:

  1. Go to Y = 15 (just above the lava ocean at Y=13)
  2. Use beds (safer than TNT in Bedrock edition)
  3. Tunnel in a straight line for 100 blocks
  4. Place bed 4 blocks deep in the wall, detonate
  5. Check for exposed Ancient Debris
  6. Repeat every 50 blocks
Netherite Upgrade Cost
- 4 Ancient Debris + 4 Gold Ingots = 1 Netherite Scrap (x4)
- 4 Netherite Scrap + 4 Gold Ingots = 1 Netherite Ingot
- 1 Netherite Ingot + 1 Diamond item = 1 Netherite item
- Total for full set: 16 Ancient Debris + 16 Gold = 1 piece
- Full set: 80 Ancient Debris + 80 Gold Ingots

Nether mining

Pro tip: In Bedrock edition, Ancient Debris spawns MORE frequently than Java edition (0.9% vs 0.5% per chunk). But bed mining is also more dangerous -- beds explode 20% larger in the Nether. Wear at least iron armor before attempting bed mining. Full set of Netherite takes about 2-3 hours of dedicated mining in Soul Sand Valley. The investment is worth it -- Netherite armor has knockback resistance and doesn't burn in lava.
